"Las Nenas" is a fresh tango team, which was created during the late 2016. They have already performed in 3rd Tango Lovers Festival and 5th Tango Festival of Patras. The core of their inspiration and ongoing evolution combines elements as artistic expression, experimentation, creativity and team-oriented spirit. Nena’s dancing philosophy is based on the coexistence and interaction between the roles that can be found in Tango Argentino: Τhe role of a leader and the role of a follower. Their perspective is that a dancer can simultaneously own and use elements from both roles. "Nena" in Spanish means "girl" and "Las Nenas" is the result of the passionate love for tango, arrived from four different directions. The name of the group comes from the initial letters of each teammate's first names ("N" for Nefeli, "E" for Eva, "N" for Nazeli and "A" for Antigoni). As tango dancers, they all have their unique identity and route in tango.
Nefeli Laina was born and raised in Athens, Greece. She graduated from the National University of Athens majored in psychology. Her first contact with tango was in 2002. Improvisation, musicality and the couple’s inner contact enchanted her and impelled her to deal with dancing. Since then she has attended many seminars with some of the most important Greek and foreign dance teachers in Greece and abroad as well. The last few years, she has taken part in many dance performances and has presented several shows in milongas and tango festivals. Her love for tango music was also the reason for her to get occupied with the role of Dj in milongas and festivals all around Europe. The last few years she is a teacher at TangoFIX. Her personal goal as a tango teacher is the transmission of technical knowledge in parallel with the highlighting of each pupil’s personal element through their dancing.
Eva Dimitriou made her first tango steps, while she was studying at National University of Athens. Since then, she made a great focus on Tango by attending classes with exceptional Greek and foreign maestros. Over the last years, she has been travelling to tango festivals and marathons. She used to work as a teacher in Athens (Tangofix school) and as a guest teacher in Vienna (Artsurface Progression Project). Last but not least, she has performed in dance theaters, milongas and festivals.
Nazeli Papadaki started interfering with the art of dancing since her early childhood. In order to explore that which seemed to her like a magical form of expression, she exercised her dancing skills with classic ballet, modern dance, flamenco, among many others. All these aforementioned dancing experiences, led to her rapid gain of overall dancing knowledge, along with her astonishing improvement on the field of dancing expertise. In the year 2009, she came across to the dancing art of tango argentino, and was thrilled by it since the very first moment. The following years she devoted her whole energy and passion to learning the main fundamentals of her loving dance, by taking part in lessons given by well-respected greek and argentinian maestros, mainly focusing on technical, expressional, motional and musical matters. Since 2011, she works as a professional teacher and dancing performer, either by delivering seminars or private tuitions, along with co-partnerships with dancing schools. In 2013, she participated in the foundation of the private dancing school "Choropiisi" and this year she teaches in Tangofix and Choropoiisi. In addition to these, she has delivered quite a few shows throughout Greece in festivals, milongas and theaters.
